Award Winners
Tony Moore, T Shirt Printer's MD, has been going to the annual Printwear and Promotions Show for many years. He inevitably returned from studying the winners of the prestigious exhibition run in conjunction with the show, muttering darkly about "could do better" or "can't see what they see in that" "bloody judges" "amateurs" .etc etc .." Well .. four years ago we had a go ourselves and submitted several designs. The results, even if we say so ourselves, were more than satisfactory, so we tried again in 2005 and will also do so in 2007. 2006 ShowWe did not enter anything - absolutely rushed off our feet with World Cup stuff! 2005 Show
This year we only submitted one design. It did not let us down and once again we won a prize in the Best Print Category. The winning design was a promotional t-shirt for the 2005 Rock Challenge, it used 12 colours on a range of coloured shirts. 2004 Show![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
In 2004 we went to the competition again but not as the judged but as the judges. There were some very good quality products and the experience we gained was very valuable and useful. We had a great time and enjoyed ourselves. 2003 Show
We got a First and a Second in the Best Print category. We also got a couple of Thirds in one of the minor categories.
We were a little surprised to get FIRST prize with our print for the "Be Your Best" foundation - a charity that works in the drug awareness field - because it was a straight promo design, not arty crafty or retail. The Judges seemed to like the extreme detail we managed to "hold" over a big 11 colour print. SECOND prize was won by our Tutankhamun print, one of our own designs for the Museum/Tourist market. This is the first time - in Europe - that a design incorporating the three elements of discharge printing, foiling and high build have been put together on one shirt. Technically very difficult to do on big automatics, but it looks good as well. Our best print (in our humble opinion), which was a very tricky 12 colour onto a range of coloured shirts for Jazz FM, required brilliant registration, great separations and perfect screen preparation and wasn't even given a mention - ah well .."bloody judges" ."amateurs",,,etc etc"
Winning
competitions is great - no praise is worth more than that of your peers
- but winning is a team thing. So
many thanks to all our specialist
suppliers - Wilflex for the inks, Roger at Spot On for the separations
and Bruce at Colenso for the screens and emulsions. Congratulations
to Darren Radley, our Print Manager and his "Lads and
Lasses" at what is now "Britain's Champion Printer"
